Poleposition Texel and Dante's Empire class apart at Subli Competition Tolbert
September 2, 2025
At the fourth selection competition of the Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses Friday in Tolbert, the judges were able to give a lot of high points. Eleven combinations were awarded a score above 80% with Poleposition Texel (by Glock's Toto Jr) with Moisés Jover Azuar and Dante's Empire (by Dante Weltino) with Bart Veeze as the absolute top scorers.
In the five-year-olds, Poleposition Texel under Moisés Jover Azuar ran to the top score of 88%. Bart Veeze and Roman Empire (by Romanov), who were also successful at the World Young Dressage Horse Championships in Germany earlier this month, came second with 83.8%. Franka Loos sent Le Gentil (by Le Formidable) to 82.2% and third place.
Absolute outlier
"For us Poleposition was the absolute standout," said Karin Retera who judged the five-year-olds' class with Willemien Blanken-Van der Scheer. "Poleposition is a very complete horse and has the ability to carry and absorb his own body without the need for tricks. He was also presented very correctly by Moisés, which also plays a role. This horse showed what I want to see in a very good dressage horse and he did that in walk, trot and canter."
Ultimate ten
For his canter, Poleposition was awarded the ultimate ten. "Nothing changed in his body and he played with the tempo changes and turns. That natural ability is what we as judges have to look at."
Roman Empire and Le Gentil
Retera is also pleased with the numbers two and three. "These are also very fine and good horses. Roman Empire is a very striking horse with a lot of charisma and was presented very well by Bart. Le Gentil showed especially a striking trot section and was nicely presented by Franka. It was a good class with actually not a bad bottom end. And on a beautiful accommodation with international appearance, good to let the horses gain experience."
Four-year-olds
Due to the large number of participants, the class for four-year-olds was judged by other judges. Here Dirk de Haas and Veronique Roerink gave the points. Also in this age category Bart Veeze made himself heard. He rode Dante's Empire (by Dante Weltino) to the winning score of 86.8. Both McMary (by McLaren) and Rock-Session (by Fürst Dior) were rewarded with 83,2 where McMary, presented by Phoebe Peters, came second and Rock-Session under Astrid Langeberg came third.
Dante's Empire
"Bart's Dante's Empire is a very fine horse that always complements with the hind leg. And what Bart is very good at is presenting super neatly, there was not a mispass to discover. It was sit back and watch," Dirk de Haas and Veronique Roerink told us.
McMary and Rock-Session
McMary also showed a good performance but she received a deduction. "A very harmonious image and it all looked very easy. This horse offers so much but unfortunately we had to deduct two percent because the test with Phoebe was too long. Number three, Rock-Session, was flawless in trot and canter and could switch very easily especially in trot. His test with Astrid also looked very harmonious. It was a very nice group, there were a few horses that were still a bit green, that's a matter of getting mileage."
