Subli Competition Young Dressage Horses
Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses is the national competition for four- and five-year-old dressage horses. During several selection competitions throughout the country, young horses get the chance to gain competition experience and compete with their peers. All competitions are held at top locations with high-quality sandy surfaces. The best 15 horses per age group qualify for the semifinals. The best five horses per age group are invited to the finals during Jumping Amsterdam.
Last season, the win in the four-year-olds went to McMary, ridden by Phoebe Peters. The victory in the five-year-old horses was for Perfect Rhythm and Kim Noordijk. In this article, we look back.

Competition calendar
- The Subli Competition consists of six selection competitions across the country.
- A horse must ride a minimum of two selection competitions to qualify.
- A horse may start a maximum of three selection competitions.
- The two best results will count toward qualification for the semifinals.

Tests for 4- and 5-year-old horses
During the competitions, specific tests are run for young horses.
- 4-year-old horses: KNHS test 50A
- 5-year-old horses: KNHS test 51A
During the selection competitions and semi-finals, you ride a mating test for four- or five-year-old horses (KNHS tests 50a and 51a). As a rider, you can compose the test in which you can present your horse in the best possible way. You must show the compulsory components in your free test. Do not complicate your test with exercises of a higher level. You will not be rewarded for this.
During the final, the four-year-old horses ride the free test again. The five-year-olds ride the FEI Final Test.

Practical information about the tests
- A rider change is allowed, but this must be communicated to sublicompetitie@gmail.com.
- The maximum time to ride is 6.00 minutes. The judges will call at 5.30 minutes. After that, there is a maximum of 30 seconds to complete the test. A ridden time of more than 6 minutes gives 2% deduction from overall result

The traverses are optional during the outdoor season. Starting with the indoor season, this will be a mandatory part of the test!

Regulations
The Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses is open to four- and five-year-old dressage horses. Important goal of this competition is to test in a responsible way the talent of the young horses. In addition, riders who are no longer allowed to compete in the lower classes, their young horses competition experience on trial-oriented presentation. The competition is open to horses of all studbooks, provided that they have a valid starting pass with the relevant rider. During the competition an intermediate ranking is kept of all achieved competition results. The minimum number of competitions that must be ridden is two and the maximum number of competitions in which a horse may participate is three. The two best results count to qualify for participation in the half finals. The best 15 horses per age group will be invited to the semi- finals in December. For which horses is the Subli Competition intended?
The Subli Competition is open to mares, geldings and stallions who reach the age of four or five years in the year of competition. The competition is open to horses of all studbooks. Participants in the competition are riders who are members of the KNHS and are in possession of a valid starting pass with the horse with which they are participating.
How many races should a horse ride?
A horse must ride a minimum of two selection competitions to qualify for the semifinals.
How many races is a horse allowed to compete in?
A horse may start a maximum of three selection competitions. The two best results from the selection competitions count toward qualification for the semifinals.
Is a rider change allowed?
A rider change is allowed, provided the rider is a member of the KNHS and in possession of a valid starting pass with the horse with which is participating. Furthermore, it is necessary that this is communicated in time with the organization via sublicompetitie@gmail.com.
What test do four- and five-year-old horses ride in the Subli Competition?

How long may a test last during the Subli Competition?
The maximum time for a trial is 6 minutes. The judges will call at 5:30 minutes. After that, there is a maximum of 30 seconds to complete the trial. If the trial lasts longer than 6 minutes, 2% deductions will be applied to the overall result.
Where will the finals of the Subli Competition be held?
The final of the Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2027 at Jumping Amsterdam.
