Win for Anke van Moer and Charlotte Fry in semifinal Subli Competition
December 16, 2024
On Saturday, December 14, the semi-final of the Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses was on the program in Harmelen. Only the best combinations from the previous eight selection competitions started in this semi-final. They rode well with high scores at the top of the standings. In the four-year-olds the victory went convincingly to Anke van Moer with her impressive grey Hexagon's Power Dutch. In the class for five-year-olds, Charlotte Fry was the best with the black stallion Secret Lover.
In the four-year-olds, 10 horses competed in the semifinals and in the five-year-olds, 14 combinations competed. At stake was a ticket to the coveted final on January 23, 2025 during Jumping Amsterdam. Only five combinations per age group may compete in the impressive arena of RAI Amsterdam for the title in the Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses 2024.
Strong semifinals
The combinations were judged in Harmelen by judges Patricia Wolters and Pauline van Nispen who look back on a successful semi-final with a good feeling. Pauline says: "We were very satisfied with this beautiful combative semi-final. It was a worthy competition and we saw many good horses that were trained very correctly for their young age. We were particularly pleased with the top five in both age categories. In addition to the qualities of the horse, in this competition the trial technique also plays an important aspect in the judging and that is where some combinations really made the difference."
Hexagon's Power Dutch steals the show in semifinals among four-year-olds
Pauline: continued: "In the class for four-year-olds, Anke van Moer and her beautiful grey Hexagon's Power Dutch definitely stood out. She entered the ring as the first combination. When she rode over the A-C line she already had her first 10 to go. We saw a nice friendly image and Power Dutch was nicely ridden from hand. We were very impressed with the level of training and the three good basic gaits. Really a deserved winner." Emmelie Scholtens with Port-au-Prince and Bart Veeze with Roman Empire finished second and third, respectively, in this semifinal.
Charlotte Fry convinces again with five-year-old Secret Lover
Also in the class for five-year-old dressage horses there was good competition. Charlotte Fry already managed to convince with Secret Lover this season with high scores during the competition competitions in Delft and Berkel Enschot and also in Harmelen she left a strong impression on the judges. Pauline: "Secret Lover is of course a dream of a horse. He has three very good basic gaits and scored a 9 for both walk, trot and canter. But the number two, Obsession Taonga under the saddle of Lara van Nek, is also a fantastic horse. This combination showed a very strong test. We thought Secret Lover's image was just a little more complete." Third place in the five-year-olds was Vai Vruntink with Oletaire. Thanks to a fourth-place finish by Charlotte Fry with her other horse O'Frederic, the rider is her own reserve for the final in Amsterdam. She is only allowed to start one horse in the final, so Charlotte has to choose who she takes to Amsterdam. That means number 6 Tessa Kole with Hexagon's Oprahmanda will also be delegated to the final.
