Rayabel S and Pitch Perfect at the top of Subli Competition Delft

Vai Bruntink delivered a special performance in Delft on Wednesday, June 11, where the second selection competition of the Subli Competition for Young Dressage Horses was held. The rider had both the four-year-old and five-year-old winners under her saddle. In the four-year-olds she rode Rayabel S (by Taminiau) to 87.36 and the five-year-old Pitch Perfect (by Le Formidable) was awarded 87.08.

Appreciation for talent and learning process in challenging entourage

Both classes at the beautiful entourage of Concours Delft were judged by Pauline van Nispen-Knols and Piet Groen. "For young horses this accommodation is not simple, there is a lot to see but that is a good learning moment. We have seen many talented horses, really eye catchers," says Pauline van Nispen-Knols. "But it's not just about a talented horse, it's also about riding the test and that was sometimes lacking. In the four-year-olds, we saw horses that were ridden over the pace, which was unfortunate." Furthermore, the judge praises the format of the Subli Competition. "This is a very valuable competition. It's not just about the good going horse but the rest also counts."

Strong scores among the four-year-olds

In addition to Vai Bruntink and Taminiau daughter Rayabel S, Lotje Schoots also scored above 85% in the four-year-olds. Her test with Rufus van 't Houtsche, who was also among the best horses at the first selection competition in Schijndel, was rewarded with 86.16 and second place. Thalia Rockx rode Rituals De La Fazenda (by Magnum De La Fazenda) to third place with 84,60.

"Both of Vai's horses are very good horses and were ridden very harmoniously. Lotje stood out in terms of riding the test and Rufus is a fine horse. Thalia's Rituals De La Fazenda was still a bit puppyish but Thalia let the horse have her value, we were pleased with that. It is a very appealing mare with a hind leg that always kept coming through."

Pitch Perfect stands out among five-year-olds

In the five-year-olds, Vai Bruntink and Pitch Perfect were the absolute best with 87.08. Devenda Dijkstra rode Picasso Veluw to second place with 80.96, and Alvaro Rodriquez Siscar and Patheon LE followed in third with 80.64. "Devenda's horse ran a very solid test and is a very nice horse. Her other horse Pablo, who came fifth, was even nicer and very nicely ridden. Only with Pablo was Devenda forgetting the halter and backward, which was very costly. Alvaro left it a bit on the ride of the test and the picture needs to be calmer, Patheon is a very talented horse though."
